RE: 5er to TC & back to 5er??

I did went from a 1985 camper to a 1996 5th wheel back to a camper in 2004 all were new units and we liked them all but we liked the camper better. Have taken the 5th across the US twice and the TC once still like the TC best. Good luck hard choice. xnorp

RE: Adventurer and general TC questions.

Don't forget to take off the tailgate when you go to pick it up. Leave it at home. I now this sounds like a no brainier but I have seen people that go to pick up there T/C for the first time and go OOPS. Have fun and enjoy. xnorp

RE: Wood choice

I think most wood campers are made with spruce. Here is what I found out about it. Light, soft, low shock resistance, moderate stiffness, good steam bending, good stability in service, and low decay resistance. Moderately low in strength but very high strength to weight ratio. Working Props Works well with hand or machine tools. Good turning properties. Nails and screws without pre-drilling and has good holding properties. One of the easiest woods to cut, glue, and finish xnorp

RE: "Pounds/$" Picking The Best?

Wow you got me to thinking about this one. Some very good questions. I have always had in my mind the best three. But your post makes one start to think and that hurts at my old age. I have always said that the best TC is the one that fits your needs and that you like that to me is the best. What we each have is the best. Good luck. xnorp

RE: Air bags or extra leaf spring

I put SuperSprings on mine. I have never looked back. They did not change the ride empty and made a big difference with the camper on. xnorp

RE: Best price on Honda 2000

When I got mine the best price I could find was at Alamia. I had it 5 days after ordering and there was no shipping charge or tax at that time. You have to call them to get the price 1-800-861-0029. Good luck. xnorp

RE: Atwood 16000 Heater

Try turning off both tanks and then turn them on real slow the OPD value is made to restrict flow if there is a sudden lose of pressure. Also you might turn on the stove to let any air out of the line. I always lite the stove and let it burn for a little bit to get the air out of the lines. Good luck. xnorp

RE: Snowbird/Snowriver

Bob and is innovative ideas are going to be missed by the camping industry. We have to remember that Bob was the first to put a slide in a camper he was also the first to put a full size rear awning on a camper. Look where the industry has gone with only those two ideas. I have never heard Bob say a bad word about another brand of camper and I am sure that he has had to bite his tongue a few times with questions that people asked. There is a bright side now that he is not a manufacture he can post on RV Net. Thanks Bob for all that you have done for the truck camper industry. xnorp

RE: Jack options

I think you can get rebuild kits for them from a RV place. There is just a bunch of o-rings in there on a shaft. Good luck. xnorp

RE: opinions on helper springs or air bags

I agree there is lots of information here on springs/airbags. I have the supersrpings on my truck and they work great. You might take a look at them also. Good luck. xnorp http://www.supersprings.com/

RE: Fantastic fan vs a/c

I am with Reddog1 on this I have the Fan-Tastic-Ceiling fan vent with no thermostat and we love it. Also have the MaxxAir/Mate Deluxe would not have the fan without it. Fan-Tastic fan is a great company I have heard nothing but good about them and there customer service is great as has been stated in other posts here. I have the A/C also but with the fan at night just a nice breeze passing from the side windows to the rear with the fan on low is great. Good luck. xnorp

RE: How old is the Truck Camper?

My Dad who is gone now and I can't ask him more about it but he told me that his grandfather had a Model T pickup that he had made into like a truck camper he would put rods into a kind of stake pocket and cover it with canvas like a cover wagon. My Dad was young at the time maybe 10 or 12 that would make it about 1920 or so. I wish I would have asked him more questions at the time he was telling me. But we all look back and wish that we would have asked more about our parents life and how they lived way back when. xnorp

RE: Low pressure propane Barbeque?

I use one that I got at Lowe's but I use the bottle. The regulator unscrews and you just have a hole a threaded hole going in so maybe that will work. I really like mine and it works great and is holding up well after two seasons. Good luck. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=274676-53719-TT-1001&lpage=none xnorp

RE: Taking camper off truck.

You could put some tall blocks under the legs before you let it down then you would not have to go all the way up with the jacks. Like a 8x8 or something. I use to have to the same thing with my old camper and truck with manual jacks. Good luck have fun and enjoy the camper. xnorp
